As the 2025 Legislative Session begins, Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio has expressed her eagerness to represent her community in Albany. She highlighted several challenges facing the state, including rising living costs, public safety concerns, energy affordability, and the need for tax relief.
Giglio acknowledged Minority Leader Will Barclay for entrusting her with new leadership roles. She will serve as vice chair of the Programs Committee, a member of both the Agriculture and Ways and Means Committees, and as the ranking member on the People with Disabilities Committee.
"I am especially looking forward to being a voice for our most vulnerable members of the community such as veterans, seniors and individuals with disabilities," Giglio stated. She emphasized the importance of addressing obstacles faced by these groups and expressed her commitment to finding solutions that prioritize New Yorkers' needs.
She outlined key priorities for this legislative session: restoring safety in New York, involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in addressing illegal migration issues, and making New York more affordable. "Prioritizing the restoration of safety amongst New Yorkers... are what need to be at the top of our agenda this legislative session," she said.
Giglio expressed her willingness to work collaboratively across party lines to address these issues effectively. "I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle... It’s time for change in our great state of New York, and I’m ready to fight for that change."
