The William Floyd High School's "School to Work" class, led by Carmella Currao, recently partnered with the Home Design & Carpentry Academy. The collaboration involved students from both programs working together to construct a blooming picture frame.

“It was an incredible experience watching carpentry students collaborate with and teach my students, building something from scratch,” said Mrs. Currao. “The experience was truly amazing for everyone involved.”

The project received support from the Home Design & Carpentry Academy instructors Matthew Van Horne and Steven Rendino, along with a donation of materials from Home Depot.

The William Floyd Home Design & Carpentry Academy offers a two-year program focused on skill development and technical training. This program equips students with basic competencies needed for roles such as entry-level carpenter or apprentice. The first year covers construction fundamentals, while the second year expands into building construction occupations and basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC skills. Successful completion of an industry assessment is required for diploma endorsement.
