Wolfie, the mascot of Stony Brook University, has advanced to the semifinals of the SUNY Mascot Madness competition. In a recent quarterfinal match, Wolfie secured over 52 percent of the votes against Flick from Finger Lakes Community College. The next challenge for Wolfie is a face-off with Damien the Great Dane from Albany, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 26.
Fans are encouraged to participate in the voting process through the SUNY Mascot Madness website. Additionally, starting at noon on March 27, social media voting will be available via SUNY's Instagram Story. Votes cast during this period will count double and can be submitted for 24 hours.
The Mascot Madness event started in 2013 and annually pits SUNY mascots against each other to determine which mascot is most favored by fans across New York. Wolfie has previously won this competition twice, in 2022 and 2023, defeating Oakie the Acorn from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in both finals.
Supporters can follow and support Wolfie's journey using #wolfie and #MascotMadness on social media platforms.
