Students from Suffolk County Community College’s Cybersecurity program have been recognized at the national level for their performance in the National Cyber League (NCL) Fall 2025 competition. The NCL is a competition that provides students with real-world cybersecurity challenges, allowing them to apply what they learn in class to practical scenarios such as system analysis and threat detection.
The Suffolk team, coached by Jonathan Sadowski, included Garret Alpers, Michael Gomez, Anthony D’Gracia, Arshad Nanan, Miles Hannaford, Hannan Ahmad, Maksym Tomenchuk, Cody Buckland, Charley Fernandez, Jullio Colado, Jutin Gebbia and Gabriel Liquori. The team competed against more than 8,520 students from 490 colleges and universities across the country and achieved a #27 ranking in the NCL Cyber Power Rankings for Fall 2025. Team member Garrett Alpers was awarded a Diamond Award for his top performance in both individual and team rounds.
“This national recognition and top-30 finish reflects the strength of Suffolk’s cybersecurity curriculum and the dedication of our students,” said Jonathan Sadowski, cybersecurity faculty member and team coach. “Their success in a highly competitive national field demonstrates not only their technical skills, but also their ability to collaborate, adapt, and perform under real-world conditions—preparing them for careers in this rapidly evolving field.”
The college stated that these results demonstrate both individual expertise and teamwork among its students. Suffolk County Community College says it remains committed to preparing students for high-demand fields through hands-on learning opportunities.
Suffolk County Community College is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system and enrolls over 26,000 students in more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The college has approximately 145,000 alumni.
