William Floyd High School senior Nicholas Powers has been named one of the top 20 boys’ bowlers by Newsday for the 2025-26 season. This is the first time that Powers has received this recognition.

Powers has played on the varsity bowling team since eighth grade and has earned All-League honors in 2024 and All-County accolades in 2025. According to Newsday, during his junior year, he achieved a 215.57 average, a high series of 729, and a high game score of 268. He finished second in League II with a record of 33-10, ranked twelfth overall in Suffolk County, and placed among the top ten at the Suffolk County High School Individual Tournament.

Alongside teammates Gino Conforti, Trinity Field, and Colin Smith, Powers helped secure a second-place finish at last spring’s New York State USBC Youth Championship Tournament, which led to participation in the state finals.

The William Floyd Colonials currently hold an 8-1 record as they aim for their sixteenth consecutive appearance in the Suffolk County Championships.

The William Floyd School District serves over 9,400 students across ten schools on Long Island’s south shore and offers programs including STEM education, career training, arts, athletics and extracurricular activities (official website).
