The William Floyd High School girls’ varsity basketball team won the Town of Brookhaven Summer League Championship on August 6. The team secured the title after playoff victories over Patchogue-Medford and Sachem East, and then defeating Ward Melville High School in the finals. Ward Melville is recognized as a AAA Elite 8 team. The Colonials completed their summer season with an 11-1 record.

The varsity roster featured student-athletes Jana Aly, Helen Lin, Tee Tee Rountree, London Barnes, Chloe Campbell, Savannah Pantry, Jayla Thomas, Milania Farrow, Olivia Lewis, Taleah Coppola, JJ Stewart and Gabby Bell-Eleazer. Coaches for the team were Rich Sinclair and Nick Thomas.

The junior varsity girls’ basketball team also had a strong showing, finishing second in their division. They reached the finals by defeating Ward Melville in the opening round and Sachem East in the semifinals before losing to Centereach.

Players on the junior varsity roster included Diondra Hooten, Olivia Lewis, Rachel Hall, Khloe DiMaio, Riley Meyer, Ariana Sileo, Aicha Diallo, Ke’nyah Carter, Aliah Clark, April Handa, Naomi Carter, Tarahji Eleazer, Ciara Hughes-Jackson and Bailey Meyer. Coaches were Carla Clark and Nick Beecher.
