The William Floyd High School Fine Arts Department recently held its annual senior Signing Day ceremony at the Jeananne Dawson Memorial Library. The event, led by Coordinator of Music Dr. Amy Sckipp and Fine Arts Chairperson Theresa Bianco, celebrated 15 students who are set to continue their education in arts or music at various colleges.
During the ceremony, each student signed a non-binding certificate of commitment to their chosen college in front of family, friends, and teachers. Dr. Sckipp announced that the group collectively received $500,000 in scholarships for their future studies.
Ten students will pursue degrees in music fields such as music education, performance, industry, sound recording technology, and theater. Five students will focus on art disciplines including art education, animation, illustration, digital media, and fashion design.
The event also featured an art exhibit and a Tri-M Recital Performance. The art exhibit was organized with assistance from Mrs. Bianco and several others including Erin Almeida and James Carson. The recital performers were directed by Mick Singh with musical accompaniment from Donia Rivera and Berkeley Rousseau.
Congratulations were extended to all students as they embark on their fine arts education journey.
