Dr. TJ Heintz and Mrs. Jackie Cabrera have been recognized as the Council of Administrators and Supervisors (CAS) Administrators of the Year for 2024-25. The William Floyd School District is notable for having two administrators selected for this honor, which highlights their dedication to school leadership.

Dr. Heintz serves as an assistant principal at William Floyd Middle School, where he has worked for 28 years. His contributions have significantly impacted both staff and students over the decades. John Rumpler, a fellow assistant principal at WFMS who nominated Dr. Heintz, praised his collaborative approach and leadership skills. “He has not only contributed to the success of the district but has become a shining example of what it means to be an outstanding instructional leader,” said Rumpler.

Mrs. Jacqueline Cabrera, assistant principal at Tangier Smith Elementary School, is also being honored for her work in the district where she grew up and taught for 16 years before taking on her current role nearly nine years ago. Her commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment has been noted by Dominic Ciliotta, principal of Tangier Smith Elementary School, who nominated her for the award. “She approaches every situation with empathy, strength and the determination to create opportunities where there seems to be none,” said Ciliotta.

The selection process for this award involves nearly 1,500 individuals across more than 75 CAS units in Nassau and Suffolk counties. The recognition received by Dr. Heintz and Mrs. Cabrera underscores their excellence in educational leadership within their community.
