The William Floyd School District announced on April 8 that it will host a K-12 STEAM Symposium on Thursday, April 16, from 6 pm to 8 pm in the west gym of William Floyd High School. The event is open to the entire school community and aims to showcase interactive presentations in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.
The symposium provides an opportunity for students and families to view student projects and explore local resources and family programs. Attendees can also learn about student accomplishments during the evening. According to the official website, the William Floyd School District has produced alumni recognized for their contributions in scholarships, education leadership, and community service according to the official website.
In addition to academic achievements, the district has earned accolades for its music program as one of the top communities for music education. Its business department was named Department of the Year by the Business Teachers Association of New York State according to its official website. The district operates ten schools including a high school, an academy, several middle schools and elementary schools according to its official website, serving more than 9,400 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade according to its official website.
The district fosters collaboration among students, parents, educators, staff and community members with a focus on promoting student development across intellectual, emotional, aesthetic and physical areas in a supportive environment according to its official website.
As part of ongoing activities at William Floyd High School this spring season there will also be an annual bone marrow donor registry drive hosted by the school’s Medical Club in honor of Meghan Moore.
