The William Floyd School District has announced that the first day of classes for grades K-12 will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The district’s calendar for the 2025-26 school year is available in digital format, with printed versions expected to arrive in residents’ mailboxes soon.

Student schedules for grades K-8 will be accessible through the Parent Portal at the end of business on Monday, August 25. Schedules for students in grades 9-12 will become available at the close of business on Thursday, August 28. Parents and guardians are encouraged to confirm their login credentials ahead of time to ensure they can access schedules once released. Students may also check their portal accounts if they wish to view their schedules directly.

All students enrolled in the William Floyd School District will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch during the upcoming academic year. The district remains part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program, which allows schools in economically disadvantaged communities to provide meals at no cost regardless of family income. This initiative is federally subsidized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). In addition, New York State has launched a statewide free meal program for all students starting with the 2025-26 school year.

Walkthrough events and supply drop-offs are scheduled at each elementary and middle school before classes begin. John S. Hobart Elementary School’s event is set for Tuesday, August 27 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am; Moriches Elementary School’s walkthrough and “Popsicles with Principals” will take place Wednesday, August 27; Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School will hold its kindergarten supply drop-off and play date on Wednesday, August 27 as well; Tangier Smith Elementary hosts its Kindergarten Round-Up on Wednesday, August 20 and walkthrough on August 27; William Floyd Elementary School’s walkthrough is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27 from 9 am to 11:30 am with a kindergarten kickball game planned earlier on Monday, August 25.

Middle schools have scheduled walkthroughs for Tuesday, August 26 from morning until early evening hours. Sixth-grade orientation days are set for Friday, August 29 from 8:30 am to 10:30 am at both William Floyd Middle School and William Paca Middle School; these sessions focus on building processes and procedures rather than instruction and do not require attendance.

Ninth-grade orientation at William Floyd High School takes place Friday, August 29 from 7:30 am to 10 am. Transportation is provided for all orientation events where noted.

Students interested in participating in interscholastic athletics must register through Family ID via an online process outlined by the district.
