William Floyd High School senior Drew Wiegand has been honored with the Daughters of the American Revolution “Excellence in American History” award. This accolade is given to students who exhibit exceptional performance in their American history classes. The Patchogue-based Col. Josiah Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution selected Drew for this recognition, presenting her with a certificate and pin.
Drew’s involvement at William Floyd High School extends beyond academics. She is active in several honor societies, including the National Honor Society, Foreign Language Honor Society, Science Honor Society—where she serves as vice president—and Tri-M Music Honor Society. As an athlete, she played varsity tennis for three years, earning All-County honors twice and securing third place in her division. Her athletic participation also includes lacrosse, track programs, Unified bowling, and Unified basketball. Additionally, Drew has been involved in student government and class council while performing with the Acabellas for three years. Her volunteer work includes six years with the Moriches Bay Project focused on environmental conservation.
Academically, Drew has received numerous awards such as the Principal’s Award (Top 10 in her class), President’s Award for Educational Excellence, New York State Comptroller Award, High Achievement Award, and Honored Academic Achiever Award. She is recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction and has earned the Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish.
Following graduation, Drew plans to attend Endicott College to pursue a major in interior architecture with a minor in construction management.
