Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Suffolk County) has announced the successful securing of $1 million in federal funding for the Village of Southampton’s Sewer System Installation. In a statement released today, LaLota expressed his commitment to benefiting the people of Suffolk County, stating, “This new system will not only safeguard our environment but also significantly enhance the daily lives of Southampton residents.”

Southampton Mayor Bill Manger expressed gratitude towards Congressman LaLota for his efforts, stating, “Southampton is glad to have such a great partner in Congressman LaLota.”

The funding will allow for the installation of a new sewer system to collect, treat, and dispose of sewage from the Village’s downtown area. Currently, the Village lacks a centralized sewer collection system. The new system aims to alleviate environmental impacts and foster economic revitalization, with a projected flow of 198,330 gallons per day.

The Village of Southampton’s funding is part of the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations bill, signed into law in March. This project follows LaLota's recent announcement of $1.5 million in federal funding for the Suffolk County Water Authority’s Westhampton Water Main Extension project.

LaLota's dedication to securing funding that directly benefits the community has been evident, with this latest allocation aiming to bring about lasting improvements in Southampton's infrastructure and environment.
