Suffolk County Police Department - The Sunday Funday Program

353

It was a month full of Sunday fun-days for a group of young people who recently joined Suffolk County Police officers at the PAL Complex in Central Islip.

The Sunday Funday program ran for four weeks with each week featuring different activities including field day events and kickball games before culminating with a carnival-type atmosphere during the finale this past week.

Sunday Funday is part of the Youth Engagement Program, funded by the COPS Community Policing Development (CPD) Microgrants Program, which is aimed at increasing public safety by reducing crime and recidivism while fostering trust between young people and law enforcement.

Working with Family Service League and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island, participants between the ages of 11 and 16 were selected to attend the four-event program.
