SETAUKET, N.Y. - On May 1st, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) announced that hundreds of additional jobs will be coming to Suffolk County after Boeing was awarded a contract by the federal government totaling over $1.17 billion. One of the manufacturing facilities Boeing will use for the contract is located in Setauket, NY.
“Long Island has always been an important part of our nation’s defense industrial base. This contract and Boeing’s choice to use a facility in Setauket drive home our communities’ importance in our national defense,” said LaLota. “This contract will bring hundreds more good-paying jobs to Suffolk County, on top of the jobs previously awarded through the Raytheon contract in Hauppauge. My position on the Armed Services Committee has allowed me to be an advocate for our defense industry and I am committed to continuing this advocacy.”
Background:
Recently, LaLota announced that Raytheon Technologies Corporation was awarded a contract by the federal government totaling $113,628,201. The contract will cover costs for Raytheon to develop MK 15 close-in weapon system (CIWS) upgrades and conversions, system overhauls, and associated hardware. One of the manufacturing facilities Raytheon will use for this contract is located in Hauppauge, NY.
The contract will cover costs for Boeing to build 400 RGM-84L-4 Harpoon Block II Update (HIIU) Grade B Canister Tactical Missiles, four RTM-84L-4 Block II HIIU Grade B Canister Exercise Missiles, 411 Containers, four Blast Test Vehicles, two Harpoon Weapon System (HWS) Joint Common Test Sets (JCTS), Harpoon Coastal Defense System (HCDS) Spares, Weapon Station Support Equipment, JCTS spares, missile spares, HCDS training equipment, integrated logistics support and technical publications, field service representatives, and training.
