Giglio Announces LIRR Construction Work in Riverhead

Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio of Riverhead announced that the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) will be conducting construction work in Riverhead, affecting the Sweezy Avenue grade crossing. Giglio stated, “So many of us rely on the LIRR, so I’m happy to spread the word about these potential disruptions.” The station will be closed on March 26 and March 27 from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. for main track service and crossing pavement work.

In addition to the upcoming closures, further construction is expected in Riverhead throughout the month. The following is the schedule for the closures:

- April 2: Osborn Ave (Siding)

- April 4: Osborn Ave. (Main)

- April 6: East Main Street

- April 9: Osborn Ave (Siding)

- April 11: Osborn Ave (Siding)

- April 13: Ostrander Ave. (Main/Siding)

- April 16: Griffing Ave. (Siding)

- April 18: Griffing Ave. (Main)

Commuters are advised to prepare for these closures and make necessary accommodations during the construction period.
