Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio, in collaboration with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and Dr. Errol D. Toulon, Jr., is organizing a training session aimed at educating the public on recognizing the signs of an opioid overdose and administering Naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal drug. The free training seminar is scheduled to address the pressing issue of the opioid epidemic in New York.

"Long Islanders, and all New Yorkers for that matter, are unfortunately very familiar with the opioid issue that plagues our state. We should be better preparing ourselves for how to fight it in real time," stated Assemblywoman Giglio. She emphasized the importance of equipping individuals with the necessary skills to save lives during overdose situations, expressing hope that increased knowledge could lead to more successful interventions.

The training session is scheduled to be held on Jan. 18, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. at the Hotel Indigo in the Riverhead Banquet Hall, located at 1830 West Main Street, Rt. 25, Riverhead, NY 11901. Those seeking additional information about the event are encouraged to contact Assemblywoman Giglio’s office at 631-727-0204 or via email at dohertyj@nyassembly.gov.
