Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead) has launched a children's car seat drive in collaboration with St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. The initiative aims to provide much-needed car seats to families in the community who may not have the means to afford them. The drive will run from the first three weeks of October, with donations being accepted until Saturday, Oct. 21, and distribution scheduled to commence on Monday, Oct. 23.

"We've got numerous families throughout our community that have children to raise, but not enough can afford the safest seating for their children's transportation in a car," Giglio stated. "The issue was brought to my attention thanks to the advocacy from the good people at St. John's, and I'm happy to help bring awareness of this issue to the wider community."

Father Larry Duncklee, the pastor for the parish, expressed his gratitude for the support received from Assemblywoman Giglio. "I encourage anyone to donate car seats they are not using to help save lives," Fr. Larry emphasized.

Donations can be dropped off at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church located at 546 St. John’s Place, Riverhead, NY 11901. The designated drop-off times are as follows:

- Thursdays: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

- Friday: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

- Saturday: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

- Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

- Monday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

- Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

- Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Giglio urged the community to contribute generously, stating, "This is a simple effort that will go a long way towards helping a child in need. I encourage anyone who can to give generously."
