There was a single gas station in cities across Suffolk County selling diesel at the lowest price of $3.79 per gallon in the week ending Apr. 20, according to GasBuddy.com.

The average cost of diesel in cities within Suffolk County was $4.23 per gallon.

Of the 106 gas stations in cities within Suffolk County, 19 offer diesel.

The average price of diesel in New York was $4.38, compared to $4.36 the week before.

Experts predict gasoline prices could drop below $3 this year before rebounding closer to $4 by year's end. GasBuddy forecasted a national average of $3.38 per gallon, down from $3.51. An outlook published in late 2023 suggests that gas rates will continue to fall in 2024.
