Suffolk County has released important information related to COVID-19 on April 21, 2024. According to the CDC, hospital admission rates and the percentage of COVID-19 deaths among all deaths are now the primary surveillance metrics.
In terms of hospitalizations, there were 66 new hospital admissions of confirmed COVID-19 patients, marking a decrease of 35.3% from the previous week. The hospital admissions per 100k in the past week stood at 2.3, indicating a low level of COVID-19 hospital admissions.
On April 19, 2024, 28 individuals were hospitalized in Suffolk County, with 57% of them being hospitalized due to COVID-19 or complications of the virus. Among these individuals, 2 were new admissions since the last report, while 7 had been discharged. Additionally, 2 patients were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) receiving care.
Regarding fatalities, as of April 19, 2024, there have been a total of 5,279 fatalities in Suffolk County since March 2020. There was no increase reported since the last update.
In terms of new cases, 26 new first-time cases were reported, with a rate of 1.7 cases per 100k and 2.4 on a 7-day average, including reported PCR and antigen tests.
