128 coaches at institutions in Suffolk County earned $53,424 on average in 2022

Suffolk County’s 128 coaches earned an average salary of $53,424 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the sixth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at New York post-secondary schools during 2022.

Suffolk County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Stony Brook University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $183,006.

Male coaches of men's teams received $69,537 on average in Suffolk County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $49,746.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
