Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) announced Timothy Manzello as the recipient of the 2024 James D. Conte Memorial Scholarship for Academic Achievement, awarded by the New York Conference of Italian-American Legislators. Manzello's dedication to academic excellence, athletic prowess, and community service embodies the values of the Italian-American community.
Graduating from Shoreham-Wading River High School in 2023 with a GPA of 97.75, Manzello's academic achievements include recognition on the Principal's List and earning an Advanced NY State Regents Diploma with Honors. As captain of both the varsity golf and basketball teams, he demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship, earning accolades such as the Shoreham-Wading River Wildcat Athletic Club Athlete-Scholar Award.
Beyond academics and sports, Manzello has volunteered at Kent Animal Shelter and Calverton National Cemetery. Currently pursuing a degree in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Management at Penn State University, he maintains a GPA of 3.94 while participating in philanthropic initiatives like THON 2024.
