NYS Senator Dean Murray has expressed concerns regarding legislation S4880C, which aims to establish a drug checking services program. According to Murray, the proposed law does not adequately address the issue of individuals using illegal substances that the program is intended to test for.

"The legislation doesn't help individuals from using illegal substances that the program is testing for," said Senator Murray.

The bill seeks to create a framework for drug checking services, allowing users to test substances for harmful contaminants. However, critics argue that while this could reduce harm, it may not sufficiently deter substance use.
