Three student-athletes from William Floyd High School have been named among the top 100 football players for the fall season by Newsday. Seniors Geo Alvarez, Derek Amato, and Aaron Fisher are recognized as standout performers, looking to make their senior season noteworthy.

Geo Alvarez, a senior wide receiver, caught 22 passes for 560 yards and 10 touchdowns during his junior season. "He is one of the fastest receivers in New York State," said Head Coach Paul Longo.

Derek Amato, also a senior, plays both offensive and defensive lineman positions. Amato is noted for being a rare four-year starter for the Colonials. "He is an exceptional run blocker and got better on defense as last season progressed," Longo added.

Aaron Fisher rounds out the trio of honored athletes. A senior offensive and defensive lineman, Fisher is considered one of the best defensive linemen on Long Island. Last season, he recorded 12 sacks.

The Colonials will commence their regular season on Saturday, September 14 at home against Longwood in the annual Parkway Power Bowl. The William Floyd Colonials currently lead the Parkway Power Bowl series with a record of 10-2.
