Sayville Ford has donated a pallet of new car parts to William Floyd High School’s Automotive program. This donation will allow students to work on various repairs, enhancing their training in the field.

Representatives from Sayville Ford, Dimitri Kreatsoulas and Mikai Shorter, were pictured with Charles Pimentel, the WFHS Automotive teacher, and Robert Felicetta, assistant principal of William Floyd High School who oversees the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program.

Sayville Ford has been a valuable partner for the district. In the spring, they provided students with a job-shadowing opportunity where they learned about tire rotations, oil changes, car inspections, and employment opportunities at Ford dealerships. Students also toured the facility and met representatives from various departments.

The William Floyd High School Automotive program is a two-year course that teaches advanced automotive theory and practical skills related to automobile repair. The curriculum is based on National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive Service Excellence standards. The William Floyd High School CTE program offers eight academies in various interest areas along with five pathways in business and technology. Graduation pathways include Accounting, Architecture, Business Management, Engineering, and Microsoft Office Specialist. Academy offerings cover fields such as Automotive Technology, Barbering, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Home Design & Carpentry (including electrical and plumbing), Medical Assisting, Marine & Motorsports Technology as well as Certified Personal Trainer & Nutritionist programs. The CTE program aims to prepare students for careers or further education by equipping them with practical skills.
