Moriches Elementary School recently acknowledged its students in grades K-5 who participated in the voluntary summer reading program. The celebration included extra playground time, certificates, and ice pops for the young readers.

The program encouraged kindergarten and first-grade students to learn 40 grade-level words before the school year began. Students from second to fifth grade were tasked with various challenges such as reading in the backyard, reading a book adapted into a movie, and exploring non-fiction books.

The event aimed to reward students for their efforts and encourage continued interest in reading.
