Eleven faculty members at Stony Brook University were formally installed into endowed positions during an investiture ceremony held on October 25 at the Charles B. Wang Center Theater. Endowed positions are significant career distinctions for university faculty, honoring the philanthropists who fund them.

During the event, each faculty member received a medallion from their respective school dean. Philanthropists present were also awarded medals in recognition of their dedication and ongoing support for the university. The honored faculty members represent various departments, including the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, the Renaissance School of Medicine, and the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences.

Interim President Richard L. McCormick expressed gratitude to donors: “Thanks to our generous friends who have placed their trust in Stony Brook, we are able to recruit and retain the absolute best scholars.” He emphasized that these faculty members conduct research addressing global challenges and attract top students.

Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Staff Development Mónica Bugallo stated, “The faculty members recognized today represent Stony Brook University at its best.” Keynote speaker Esther S. Takeuchi highlighted the importance of faculty research in solving complex contemporary issues.
