Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Willie Curry, 36, from Brentwood, on charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and related offenses. Curry is accused of stabbing his ex-wife over 20 times.

"This brutal and calculated attack represents the devastating reality of domestic violence in our community," said District Attorney Tierney. "The defendant allegedly ambushed his ex-wife in broad daylight, just hours after she sought legal protection from him, showing a complete disregard for both human life and the law. Our office takes domestic violence cases with the utmost seriousness."

The incident occurred on November 2, 2024, at approximately 8:15 a.m. The victim was in her car at a McDonald's drive-thru in Bay Shore when Curry allegedly approached on an electric bicycle. He reportedly ran to the open driver-side window and began stabbing her repeatedly. Witnesses called 911 and shouted for Curry to stop as the victim screamed for help.

The attack ceased when the woman managed to drive a short distance away. An observer exited their vehicle to intervene while another bystander assisted the victim and contacted emergency services.

Police arrived at the scene shortly after, and the victim was transported to South Shore University Hospital with multiple stab wounds requiring staples and stitches. She had obtained an order of protection against Curry from Family Court just one day before the incident. Authorities apprehended Curry near the scene.
