Councilwoman Bonner supports organ donations at Stony Brook University event

Karen Dunne Kesnig Councilwoman District 6 | Town of Brookhaven

On November 6, Councilwoman Jane Bonner participated as a guest speaker at the Stony Brook University Student Volunteer Appreciation Event. The event took place at the Shore Club Student Activity Center and was sponsored by LiveOnNY. This nonprofit organization is federally designated for organ procurement and focuses on saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation.

Councilwoman Bonner shared her personal experience as a kidney transplant donor. She spoke to attendees about the importance of organ donations in transforming lives. LiveOnNY, established in 1978, serves a diverse population of 13 million residents across Greater New York City, Long Island, Westchester, and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Attendees included various individuals from different backgrounds who were recognized for their volunteer efforts. In the front row were Dr. Smita Majumdar Das; Samantha Warren; Bhata Seal; Ethan Gibbons; Karen Cummings (Senior Manager, Community and Government Affairs for LIVEONNY); Gianna Montante; Reese McQueen; Vivien Llanes; Marisa Bisiani. The back row featured Christian Siems; Kerri Mahoney; Akaash Sharma; Eric Holts; Cayla Schaffer; Khushali Patel, Shreyasi Saha alongside Councilwoman Jane Bonner.
