William Floyd High School senior Milton Calderon-Suriel has been awarded a full four-year scholarship to the University of Chicago through the QuestBridge National College Match program. Out of more than 25,500 applicants nationwide, Milton is one of 2,627 students selected for this opportunity. He plans to major in computer science.

QuestBridge connects high-achieving seniors with top colleges and universities, offering access to the QuestBridge Scholars Network. This community provides educational, career, and life opportunities.

“Milton is bright, determined and intuitive. Success is a part of who he is and I know that will continue with him throughout his college education,” said Arianna Scanlon, Milton's guidance counselor. “I truly believe that he can be successful in anything he pursues, and he will do so with a smile and while helping others.”

Milton has excelled academically with a 99.5 grade point average in honors and Advanced Placement classes. He will become a first-generation high school graduate this June and then a first-generation college student.

In addition to his academic achievements, Milton is also part of the boys' varsity track team at William Floyd High School. His ability to balance responsibilities reflects his dedication and maturity.

Ms. Scanlon remarked, “Milton has been my student for the last three years, and I have seen him exemplify his independent, adaptable, and resilient personality on every occasion. He puts forth his best effort consistently, no matter what challenge stands in his way.”

The National College Match program allows recipients early admission to any of the 52 college partners working with QuestBridge. These institutions provide financial aid packages covering tuition, housing, food, books, supplies, and travel expenses.

“We are delighted to welcome this record-breaking number of QuestBridge Scholars,” said Ana Rowena Mallari, Co-Founder and CEO of QuestBridge. “These Scholars will contribute a rich diversity of perspectives and experiences to our college partners, enhancing the vibrancy of their campus communities.”

This year's scholarship recipients come from all U.S. states and territories. They have an average unweighted GPA of 3.94; 92% rank in the top 10% of their class; 83% are first-generation college students.

Finalists joining QuestBridge college partners enter the QuestBridge Scholars Network for peer support from similar backgrounds. Alumni can apply for full-tuition scholarships to business schools through Graduate School Match: MBA programs.

Congratulations to Milton for receiving this prestigious scholarship.
