William Floyd High School senior Mike Amodeo has been chosen to feature his artwork on the cover of the 2025 yearbook. Mike, who was also named the William Floyd "Artist of the Month" for December 2024, is now a two-time honoree, having previously received this recognition as an eighth-grade student at William Paca Middle School.
The theme for the yearbook cover competition was "Beyond Imagination," encouraging students to create imaginative images that reflect their high school experiences and future aspirations. Mike's winning design merges past and future elements, depicting students in high school classes alongside images of potential future careers within a thought bubble emerging from a William Floyd green graduation cap. His work highlights how courses at William Floyd can lead to diverse career paths. He emphasized celebrating William Floyd's diversity in both its curriculum and community through his use of colored pencils.
Theresa Bianco, chairperson of Fine Arts at William Floyd School District, commented on Mike's growth since eighth grade: “I have had the pleasure of meeting Mike in eighth grade, from Mr. Antenucci's class. He was creating beautiful portraits back then, and that was his passion." She added that he has since perfected techniques in various mediums.
Mrs. Erika Licausi, an art teacher at WFHS who has taught Mike in several classes, stated: “Even in ninth grade, Mike had a clear vision for his artwork. He has always been mature and able to develop concepts.”
Mike has explored numerous art courses throughout high school, including Animatronic & Creative Design and Fashion Design. His interest in fashion design led him to create and sell bleached t-shirts on social media.
Looking forward, Mike plans to continue growing his brand as a t-shirt designer and pursue tattoo design as a career. He will attend tattoo classes at Noble Art Academy in New York City after graduation. Mike's education journey began at John S. Hobart Elementary School and continued through William Paca Middle School.
