Assemblyman Keith Brown, along with Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio and other members of the Assembly Minority Conference, held a press conference in Albany to address issues with New York State's Early Intervention Hub (EI-Hub). The system is intended to manage the Early Intervention Program for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities. However, significant problems have been reported, affecting children, families, and service providers across the state.
Brown emphasized the need for an investigation into why the Department of Health awarded a contract to Public Consulting Group (PCG) to develop the EI-Hub. He cited "extensive issues and technological failures" that have led to service interruptions for children and delayed payments for providers.
The event was attended by local advocates from Long Island and professionals in the early intervention field who echoed concerns about the system's impact on their work.
