Nick LaLota discusses key issues including sanctuary cities and EPA leadership

Congressman Nick LaLota, representing New York's 1st district, shared a series of statements on various political issues through his social media account. LaLota, who succeeded Lee Zeldin in 2023, addressed topics ranging from federal funding to immigration policies and environmental leadership.

On January 28, 2025, Congressman LaLota commented on the decision by former President Trump regarding federal funds. He shared his statement via a link: "My statement on Trump’s pausing on certain federal dollars."

Later that day, LaLota expressed his views on sanctuary cities and their approach to federal immigration laws. He stated: "Sanctuary cities have chosen to defy federal immigration laws, creating their own crises. It’s unacceptable for federal taxpayers to bail them out for the reckless and misguided policies they stubbornly stand by." The congressman also mentioned a bill he is introducing to address this issue.

On January 29, 2025, Congressman LaLota endorsed his predecessor Lee Zeldin for the role of leading the Environmental Protection Agency. He remarked: "My predecessor and friend Lee Zeldin is the right choice to lead the Environmental Protection Agency. A proud New Yorker and a champion for common sense solutions, Lee will ensure we protect our environment without recklessly sacrificing American jobs or growth."
