The Stony Brook School of Nursing has once again achieved a notable position in the U.S. News and World Report Best Online Programs Rankings. For the sixth consecutive year, its online master's program is among the top 10, currently holding the eighth spot, an improvement from last year's ranking.

Programs are evaluated based on several key performance indicators such as engagement, faculty credentials and training, and peer assessment. Patricia Bruckenthal, dean of the School of Nursing, commented on this achievement: “This ranking is a testament to not only our faculty expertise but the clinical opportunities associated with an academic medical center and being part of the No. 1 public university in New York State.”

Since 1994, SBU’s School of Nursing has been offering quality online programs. All graduate programs are available through distance education with some on-site requirements.

In addition to nursing, other online programs at Stony Brook have also seen changes in their rankings. The online master’s in education for Higher Education Administration moved up 17 places to rank No. 104. Meanwhile, the online master’s in business for the Master of Science in Human Resource Management saw a slight decline to No. 74 from last year’s position. Both these programs fall under the administration of the School of Professional Development.
