The University Orchestra, under the direction of Susan Deaver, is set to hold its annual Family Orchestra Concert on February 25 at the Staller Center for the Arts. The event will commence at 7:30 pm and offers free admission to attendees.

This concert has become a cherished tradition within the Stony Brook community. The theme for this year is "Orchestral Rhythms!" and it promises an engaging experience with music that highlights various orchestral sounds from strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. The program will feature pieces such as Alfred Reed’s "A Festival Prelude," Jerry Brubaker’s "That Gershwin Rhythm," Vaughan Williams’ "March from English Folk Songs," LeRoy Anderson’s "The Typewriter," Shostakovich’s "Waltz No. 2," and Copland’s "Hoe-Down from Rodeo." Alicja Paruch will be the featured soloist, performing Ney Rosauro's Marimba Concerto.

For more details, interested parties can contact Staller Center at (631) 632-ARTS or reach out to the Stony Brook Department of Music at (631) 632-7330. Additional information is also available on their website at stonybrook.edu/music.
