Kylie Zahra has taken on the role of a respiratory therapist at Stony Brook Medicine. Her journey in this field began as an undergraduate student at the University of North Carolina: Wilmington, where she studied respiratory therapy. Reflecting on her choice, Zahra noted, "Through looking at my options, respiratory was a hidden little niche that more people are now starting to become aware of, especially during and since the pandemic."

Before joining Stony Brook Medicine full-time, Zahra gained experience as an equipment technician intern. This position provided her with practical knowledge about the respiratory equipment she would later use professionally. Her positive experiences with colleagues during this internship motivated her to pursue a permanent role within the organization.

For those interested in learning more about Kylie Zahra or nominating someone for the "Meet Your New Colleagues" series, further information is available on the Be Connected website. Nominations can be submitted through a Google form or by contacting BeConnected@stonybrook.edu.
