The William Floyd High School girls' varsity basketball team, under the guidance of head coach Rich Sinclair, has secured a playoff berth for the fourth year in a row. The team achieved 10 overall wins during the regular season, with six victories in League I. As a result, they have earned the No. 11 seed and will face No. 6 Northport on Thursday, February 13, at 5 pm in their playoff opener.
Admission to this round of the playoffs and subsequent games is managed by Section XI, with tickets priced at $8.35 each ($7 plus a $1.35 service fee). Children aged 12 and under can attend for free.
The Colonials fought hard to secure their playoff spot, achieving crucial victories against League I opponents Patchogue-Medford and Riverhead towards the end of the season. This set up a decisive "win and you're in" scenario for their final League I game. They succeeded by defeating Central Islip with a score of 71-25 on the road, thus securing their place in the Class AAA playoffs. In this victory, Savannah Pantry excelled with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double performance. Milania Farrow contributed 13 points while Chloe Campbell added 12 points and seven rebounds.
This marks an unprecedented period of success for the program, with four consecutive playoff appearances being unmatched in its history.
The current roster includes student-athletes Destiny Talbert, London Barnes, Jana Aly, Jayla Thomas, Milania Farrow, Helen Lin, Andie Will, Caiden Widecki, Vinte’ya Rountree, Savannah Pantry, Kelis Gandy, Taleah Coppola, J.J. Stewart and Chloe Campbell. The coaching staff comprises head coach Rich Sinclair along with assistant coaches Max Campbell, Michael Clauberg and Robert Hodgson.
Best wishes are extended to all players and coaches as they advance into the playoffs.
