NYS Senator Dean Murray has expressed his response to a bill that proposed granting the Governor the authority to delay special elections until the general election in November. The bill, which has been halted for now, could have resulted in hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers lacking representation. According to Senator Murray, this proposal is not consistent with democratic principles.
"Giving the Governor the power to withhold special elections until the general election in November...is not in line with our democratic process," said Senator Murray.
