Nick LaLota, a U.S. Congressman representing New York's 1st district since 2023, recently shared his views and legislative efforts through a series of tweets. Born in Bay Shore, New York, and currently residing in Amityville, LaLota succeeded Lee Zeldin in Congress.

On March 17, 2025, Congressman LaLota tweeted about the importance of addressing the national debt on St. Patrick's Day. He emphasized that "it's not 'luck of the Irish' that'll fix our $36 trillion debt" and urged Congress to "put partisanship aside and make responsible decisions to secure our financial future." "Let's act now before our luck runs out."

Later that day, he highlighted his legislative work with a tweet regarding the WOSB Accountability Act. LaLota stated that this bipartisan act had passed the Small Business Committee unanimously and is designed to ensure federal contracts meant for women are awarded appropriately: "My bipartisan WOSB Accountability Act...ensures federal contracts meant for women go to them—not to male fraudsters."

In another tweet posted on March 17, 2025, LaLota discussed funding for environmental initiatives related to Long Island Sound. He noted that his team secured over $40 million in 2024 and expressed their ongoing commitment by pushing for reauthorization of the Long Island Sound Program through 2029: "We’re committed to putting Long Island first!"
