Congressman Nick LaLota recently provided insights at different community and veteran events, engaging with various stakeholders on key issues. LaLota has been an active figure in addressing federal spending, veteran healthcare, and recognition of veterans' contributions, a reflection of his role since joining the U.S. Congress in 2023, representing New York's 1st district.

On March 28, LaLota participated as a panelist at the Long Island Association’s event, "What’s New in Washington," which convened over 700 business and community leaders. He remarked on financial discipline, stating that "no business here has gone 25 years without balancing a budget—yet Washington has". He emphasized the need to "trim federal spending while protecting LI’s future."

Aligned with his commitments to recognizing the contributions of service members, LaLota tweeted on March 29 in commemoration of #VietnamVeteransDay, highlighting, "We honor those who served in Vietnam—their sacrifices will never be forgotten." LaLota also indicated his leadership on a bipartisan bill aimed at expanding care for Vietnam veterans facing bile duct cancer due to liver fluke exposure.

Later on March 29, LaLota joined both fellow veterans and Long Islanders in Hauppauge to honor Vietnam War Veterans Day. LaLota expressed his honor at celebrating with over a thousand Long Islanders, acknowledging the veterans with the "Welcome Home" they deserve. He also extended his gratitude to U.S. Senator Schumer for supporting a Republicans' funding bill focused on full funding for the Veterans Affairs department.
