The SBND collaboration, which has been developing the detector for nearly a decade, successfully activated all subsystems after several months of preparation.

Gelber Lopez Perez, 20, of Riverhead, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree. The sentence was announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

The Town of Brookhaven will host its annual Country Fair on September 21 and 22, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the historic Longwood Estate in Ridge.
