St James man indicted for murdering ex-wife and her boyfriend
Daniel Coppola, 50, of St. James, has been indicted on four counts of Murder in the First Degree for allegedly fatally shooting his ex-wife Kelly Coppola, 50, and her boyfriend Kenneth Pohlman Jr., 53. The announcement was made today by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

Former president pleads guilty to embezzling $70k from Dix Hills Soccer Club
Matthew Dickson, 44, of Dix Hills and the former Vice President and President of the Dix Hills Soccer Club, pleaded guilty to Petit Larceny for embezzling over $70,000 from the club in 2022. The announcement was made by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

Bay Shore man sentenced to prison for stabbing former girlfriend
Jorge Guevara, 49, of Bay Shore, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. This follows a jury finding him guilty in June of Attempted Assault in the First Degree and other charges for stabbing his girlfriend in the neck with scissors.

District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announces hiring of twenty assistant district attorneys for 2024
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the appointment of 20 new Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) today. This class of ADAs will undergo an intensive multi-week training program taught by members of the Appeals and Training Bureau before they begin their tenure in Suffolk County First District Court, where they will prosecute misdemeanor crimes, gaining investigative and trial experience.

NYC child services employee arrested over forged doctor notes
Alan Anderson, a 55-year-old employee of the New York City Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), has been arrested for allegedly submitting 12 forged doctor notes to his employer. The arrest follows a joint investigation by the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the New York City Department of Investigation.

Mother indicted for murder following wrong-way crash killing nine-year-old son
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced the indictment of Kerri Bedrick, 32, of Centerport, for Murder in the Second Degree and other related charges following a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of her nine-year-old son. The incident occurred while Bedrick was allegedly driving under the influence of methamphetamine.

Former facility manager sentenced for stealing funds from autistic residents
Desiree Etheridge, 50, the former facility manager at Eden II in Saint James, has been sentenced to one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to Grand Larceny in the Third Degree. Etheridge was found guilty of stealing funds from the ATM cards of six residents with autism spectrum disorder, who had entrusted her with their cards for petty cash purposes.

Huntington man pleads guilty to grand larceny involving deceased mother's pension
Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney and New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli announced that Moses K. Johnson, 63, of Huntington, has pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. Johnson, a former employee of the Town of Huntington, admitted to stealing more than $56,000 from his deceased mother’s public pension payments following her death in April 2021.
