Congressman Nick LaLota, currently serving New York’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently expressed his views on border security and legislative rules via a series of tweets. Elected in 2023, LaLota replaced previous Congressman Lee Zeldin. The congressman was born in Bay Shore, New York, in 1978, and now resides in Amityville.

On April 1, 2025, Congressman LaLota shared a vague tweet, ostensibly regarding an issue of current political significance "https://t.co/rns0ULEVAp".

On April 2, 2025, Congressman LaLota praised the use of satellite technology for border security measures. He stated, "Expanding satellite use for border security shows the Trump Admin’s strong commitment to securing our borders and protecting communities."

Later on April 2, 2025, Congressman LaLota discussed the House discharge rule, emphasizing its importance as a counterbalance to the Senate filibuster. He remarked, "The House discharge rule (Clause 2, Rule XV) is the House’s superior answer to the Senate filibuster—created in 1910 to check leadership when 218 Members agree. The Speaker’s a friend working to fix America. But any move to weaken this rule only proves why it must be protected."
