42 percent of applicants to Stony Brook University were admitted for fall 2018

At Stony Brook University, 93 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 52 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Stony Brook enrolled 26,256 students in fall 2018, including 17,522 in undergraduate and 8,734 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

77 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 8 percent are residents of other states. 14 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (32 percent) and Asian (26 percent).

The school admitted 42 percent of the 37,828 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 21 percent enrolled.
