Devinder Mahajan, a professor at Stony Brook University, has been selected for the Class of 2024 SUNY Technology Accelerator Fund (TAF). Mahajan is recognized for his work in developing a system to store and release blended hydrogen and methane under near-ambient conditions. This research aims to tackle challenges in storing and releasing hydrogen efficiently, contributing to sustainable energy solutions.

The TAF award supports faculty inventors and scientists within the SUNY system. This year, $425,000 was allocated to fund seven projects with potential impacts on healthcare, environmental protection, and New York's electronics industry.

The SUNY Research Foundation administers TAF to bridge research with market opportunities by funding key development stages like feasibility studies and prototyping. Since its inception in 2011, TAF has invested over $3.5 million into advancing 72 innovations, which have attracted more than $16 million in additional investments from various sources.

"Administered by the SUNY Research Foundation," TAF plays a crucial role in "bridging the gap between research and the marketplace." The program helps demonstrate "the commercial viability of innovative technologies," making them more appealing to investors.
