Cost of college went up for all students at the New York Institute of Beauty

Tuition and fees rose 50 percent for 2018-19 at the New York Institute of Beauty, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York students paid $14,695 to attend the private for-profit school this year – $4,900 more than the $9,795 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 10 students received grants or scholarships totaling $38,352 and 14 students took out student loans totaling more than $91,199.

Including all undergraduates (163), 114 students used grants or scholarships totaling $380,104, and 110 students took out $546,672 in federal student loans.
