TOWN OF BABYLON: Officials Join New Eagle Scout for Flag Raising Ceremony

Town of Babylon issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.

Eagle Scout Gavin Rogers of Troop 601 completed his project at Michel Park in East Farmingdale with a flag raising ceremony. His project included two benches installed along the walking path as well as a flagpole complete with solar power to appropriately light our country’s flag. 

The honor of raising the flag was given to Patrick Burns, who is a Town of Babylon Beautification Ambassador, Past President of the Kiwanis of East Farmingdale and a Navy Veteran.

Supervisor Rich Schaffer, Deputy Supervisor Tony Martinez, Councilmen DuWayne Gregory and Terence McSweeney and Beautification Director Viscel Moore were there to applaud and thank Gavin for his admirable project. NYS Sen. John Brooks, NYS Assemblyman Steve Stern and SC Legislator Jason Richberg also attended the ceremony. Gavin’s project garnered media attention and the story of his accomplishment was covered by News 12 Long Island.
