Before the department’s police helicopter can take to the skies for a medical transport, Aviation Section officers must work closely with first responders on the ground to provide the best possible care for patients.
To be prepared for these critical situations, training is of the utmost importance. Aviation Section officers recently trained a new group of paramedics at the Stony Brook University Hospital helipad. They were taught how to safely load and unload patients from the SCPD helicopter while protecting themselves, patients, and other first responders.
