Cadet Cristian Pineda still describes the honor as "really unreal."Pineda, a member of the Brentwood High School Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC), was named the recipient of the J-100 AFJROTC Character-In-Leadership Scholarship this week.
The receiving of the honor is the first time that a Brentwood students has earned this distinction and Pineda was chosen out of nearly twenty-five thousand applicants.
"It has almost shaped the way I carry out my life," Pineda stated regarding the AFJROTC program.
He serves as a commander of the unit under the direction of SMSgt. Hanna and MSgt. Perez.
The program has significantly bolstered his future plans, including his career aspirations in computer science and to earn a commission into the Space Force.
