WASHINGTON, D.C. - On May 24, 2023, Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01) released the following statement after voting NAY on a House Republican measure to override President Biden’s veto of H.J.Res. 39. LaLota had previously voted AGAINST the resolution in April.

“I came to Congress to be a strong independent voice for Long Island, committed to energy independence and our national security.  Following that compass, I bucked my party today and voted against hurting good-paying solar jobs in New York,” said LaLota. “This fundamentally flawed bill, which cuts America’s nose to spite an adversary’s face, would impose retroactive penalties on New York solar companies and does not actually advance a pro-energy independence agenda that is key to our national security. Suffolk County residents can rely on me to always vote to put my country and constituents FIRST, even if that means crossing party lines.”
