Assemblyman Flood has expressed his views on the latest developments regarding the state budget proposal. In response to Governor Hochul's potential removal of the 'hold harmless' provision, Flood commended both sides of the aisle for pushing back against the proposal, emphasizing the importance of protecting the education of children.
However, Flood also voiced his disappointment with the Assembly Majority's push for a record-spending budget that he believes will worsen New York's unaffordability crisis. He highlighted the exodus of residents to states with lower taxes and criticized the Majority's plan to raise taxes by $3.5 billion, which he believes will burden middle-class residents.
As the state budget nears its finalization, Flood called for bipartisan collaboration to ensure that the budget prioritizes the needs of all New Yorkers.
